I only watched FLCL about 2-3 weeks ago. I think I’m going to continue working chronologically backwards with Gainax. =_= (yeah, that’s right, I haven’t seen Eva).

For those who don’t know, I’m  an Ouran fan, even if the anime is cheeeeeeeeesy, it’s blatantly shoujo, and it becomes corny at random points. I can’t really explain why I like it. Maybe it’s just Tama-chan that makes it worth watching.

The dub is alright (hah I got the first 13 ep. dvds for a gift), but there are 2(?) voices that are incredibly annoying. The main one is the manager girl (gah already forgot her name), though her character is supposed to be a bit annoying, so I guess it fits. :/

I watched the first 5 Hellsing OVAs about 3 weeks ago, pure awesome. How can anyone not love Schrodinger? I’m talking about you, Al, shooting him through the mouth like that.

Also, if you noticed my post last year about me being bored by Gundam 00…RECANT’D. I watched up to episode 18, and I had no idea epicness existed in such large quantities. Even the dub is good (I have to watch the dub; SciFi, because my internet is screwing up).

Argh. I also forgot to mention that I finished Higurashi Kai (I’m posting about all this stuff I did a month ago o_o,). It was…nice. Being alive is…nice. Growing taller and obtaining bigger breasts is…ni-wait…RIKA! Stop editing my posts!

Now I deal with a friend who’s addicted to it.

The creator of the manga series What’s Michael is developing a new manga based on a medieval yakuza swordsman.

I lol’d because What’s Michael was the weirdest and most trivial manga I’ve ever read (even more trivial than the first few episodes of Lucky Star).

However, it did star talking cats.

I only read one of the volumes, called “Sleepless Nights”. It was pretty introductory, and I easily understood what was going on; talking cats.

That’s pretty much all I got out of it.

Seki no Yatappe was a play about a medieval yakuza swordsman. It is now being adapted by Makoto Kobayashi into a manga.

Oh, Dark Horse, what’s next?

Also, Gundam 00 is premiering on Sci-Fi tonight. It’s really too bad I was never a big fan of it, and only watched parts of it.

Holy hell, my eyes are screwed.

Anyways, I feel a bit guilty to review a movie that’s from 2007, but if you’ve already watched it, you can just fast-forward through my lame blog and move on to cooler stuff.

Meet Takaki! He has the potential to get shit done in the first story, but is an awkward dumbass in the 2nd and 3rd one!

Okay I shouldn’t beat on Takaki, or take this movie lightly. This is hard

Anyways, the story is heart-wrenchingly sad at some points. The direction is amazingly well done. The story moves quite slowly, and takes leaps through time for flashbacks and in-between stories. It’s romantic, but I’d put it more underneath the ‘slice of life’ category, even if that is kind-of a dry way to put it.

Still, the movie is amazing, and if you haven’t already watched it, find a way to watch it, and do it as soon as possible, because you’re missing out on an amazingly well-animated sobstory.

I guess it looks kind-of decent. Still, it’s sad to see them go with a kiddish claymation-type look.

I read a lot of the manga about 4 years ago. I really liked it, but I’ve moved on, and this doesn’t pull me back into it. They should be aiming to appeal to all the people who already ARE Astro Boy fans (most of which are much older than I). They shouldn’t be going for a ‘new appeal’ for younger children.

I might see it for the hell of it, but that’s for me to decide when it comes out in a YEAR.

Heh, I can name a few people who’d get pissed if I told them I never finished it.

Anyway, it’s odd looking at the game from a developer perspective, now that I’ve dabbled pretty far into game development.

Many of the houses in the game aren’t 3-dimensionally textured. If you’ve ever noticed how the inside of houses in the game has  a sort-of ‘oily-pastelle’ style, this is what I’m talking about. Inside houses, it’s just one big image, that pans left and right while Link moves. Really, the geometry that Link collides with is invisible.

The fire effect that you see in the torches is used for practically every fire throughout the entire game, with the exception of the geyser fire and Volvagia from the fire temple.

It seems the developers, when they started development on the Spirit Temple, realized that Nabooru hadn’t been developed as a character yet. So, what better way than to send Link back in time to meet her? Therefore, they can flag her as important enough to become a sage. =_=

I had the old Nintendo Power guide for the game. It helped in some parts, but it was missing a few keys and was pretty bad when it came to things you had to do in between dungeons (literally, on one page, it has the boss of a temple, and on the next, the next dungeon). It also described things pretty badly (I used it for finding extras, mostly), such as telling you to bomb things that can only be hammered. >_>

Haha I never knew this game lagged, either. It was an interesting surprise when I entered the Water Temple.

It feels terrible, and I just want the internet to feel bad for me.

I am probably going to make it an all-out map, where no one owns any CPs at the beginning. If that’s the case, it’ll have 2 pairs of CPs at an equal distance from the spawn points. The 5th CP will be where the main battle takes place.

I am also considering it to be an attack/defend map, but those are a bit harder to make, so I’ll stick with this.

Anyway, the map idea is that it is a string of alleyways. I’m hoping it ends up looking like Venice, Italy. Thankfully, the alleyways may lead to some teamwork. If you get a group of people and rush down one alleyway, you’re not likely to meet very much resistance. Strings of rush organizations is the type of strategy I want to have people use.

Like any map designer, I always have the urge to create a secret area. I’ll find out what that is when I make it.

I have some opinions of it. I don’t care if they ever get read, I’d just like to know that it’s on the internet, where someone has the choice to read it.

First off, if you’re a Gaia fanatic, and are willing to be avidly optimistic about anything the Gaia staff decides to do, this article won’t be your cup of tea.

The preview was nice, it got me a bit excited. Still, I couldn’t shake the fact that it didn’t seem like the development staff and the preview’s editors were on the same page. The preview looked like it was composed by a few guys who play GaiaOnline, and happen to have good editing skills. It really didn’t seem like the Gaia staff themselves worked on it.

One, main thing that bothered me was the preview’s use of images. It rather reminded me of a person on Youtube trying to get people excited for a game, by “animating” new clips by just weaving the camera around in a concept design. It made me feel like Gaia didn’t have any material to show us, and was just going to throw concept art in our face.

Then there’s just bad text directing. “Soon, 6 million gaians…will fight a new evil…THIS GUY??”

Well, that’s definitely very…informative to us. Wait, was that a joke? Hmm…a mystery.

Next, there’s the actual gameplay footage. This is where it felt a bit sad. I was kind-of hoping for some good effects, monsters dropping like flies, evidence of teamwork between dozens of people, fun stuff.

I guess I’ll have to accept that this isn’t designed to be an important MMO for anyone. The only thing that makes it special is that it’s a “Gaia” MMO. That’s fine enough. The game will be good enough for me to give it a try.

Someone may read this article and get angry. If you do, that’s fine. I’m here playing games that look much better than this one, so, by comparison it’s hard to feel much for zOMG.

Maybe it’s the “towns clone” look, that makes me feel disappointed.

By the way, in case people don’t know, this is a RECAP. So, if you haven’t watched the episode, it includes practically ALL the details of the episode that could potentially SPOIL it.

The episode starts out with Zero commanding the UFN to go all-in and take Tokyo Settlement.

There’s a quick moment where Nina wants to enter the fray. I was seriously hoping she would, though, because that would…you know, put her in danger, and we all want her dead anyway.

Suzaku enters the battle, as Lelouch predicted, but this time he’s carrying FLEIA.

This is where Lelouch lost the game.

Immediately, Jeremiah attacks Suzaku from below.

Once again, the animators go insane as the battle flows into a giant fireworks show of lights and beams of all colors and all sorts of crap flying everywhere.

We find out that most of Zero’s army has been wiped out, and that only Tamaki’s unit is left.

We have succeeded in putting her on a flying deathtrap, apparently.

Well, he’ll be back. This is like, the fourth time he’s died anyway.

Meanwhile, Anya, in the process of assaulting Lelouch, has one of those strange Geass moments.

Alas, although Lelouch got rid of Anya, Brandli shows up.

Kallen, having been rescued by Sayoko, boots up the new Guren.

Lolwut. This must be Suzaku’s Guren.

According to Code Geass, cleavage must always be visible.

Of course, we can’t forget that Lelou is in trouble.

This is starting to look like Gurren Lagann.

A futile attempt by Sunrise to give an unimportant character a backstory.

We quickly learn that the Emperor is watching the battle from nearby, but won’t actually enter it, even though he could probably save everyone’s asses.

Kallen finds Zero, and kills off Brandli’s lackeys.

Oh, that girl’s names Kewell, huh? Interesting…except, no one really cares because your screentime lasted 2 minutes.

Kallen and Brandli face-off. Of course, Brandli is disposable, so he’s the one who gets killed off.

Finally, Sayoko and Rolo reach Nunnaly.

Right as Kallen is about to kill Suzaku, however, his Geass tells him to live on.

Against his will, Suzaku launches FLEIA.

The Black Knights and Brittania both try to retreat.

Lelouch is rescued by Guilford, but Guilford is caught in the blast.

After FLEIA, Lelouch goes all emo.

I bet you’re happy now, Rolo. Now you have Lelouch all to yourself…

Wait, when did Rolo escape?

Also, I was looking through DarkMirage’s comments (yes, I read that blog, how else would I be able to completely copy it without reading it first?) and many people believed that FLEIA was not actually a destructive weapon, but a transporter to a different location.

This is actually probably the case, because of this screen.

Why would a bomb have a progress meter?

Ah, well. The preview for episode 19 only suggested that Lelou’s going to lose it, and Suzaku’s going to walk the path of guilt.
